CPA Case Competition 2014
A review for ASA’s CPA Case Competition
The CPA Case competition is an invaluable opportunity to experience firsthand the problems and tasks accountants are faced with. Speaking from a first year’s perspective, not only did it provide me with detailed insights in the procedural and analytical workings behind company consulting, but it also challenged my ability to problem-solve individually and as part of a team. The CPA Case Competition entails groups of 4 individuals analysing the financial position of a given company. The groups then provide a report of its situation and relevant potential areas for improvement.
Although this was a challenging experience, I personally believe that it has strengthened my skills in teamwork, problem solving and public speaking. I thoroughly recommend students from all years to participate in any future Case Competitions regardless of their origin. It will without doubt provide you valuable skills on which you will capitalise in the future.
